PDT member E. Reed Low '37. Low is the founder of the Mud Bowl. He challenged SAE to play the first game on the morning of Homecoming 1934.

As an alum, he continued to support the contest for many years by kicking off the ball to start the game and awarding a trophy to the winning team.

The Michigan Ensian yearbook documents the fact that the 1980 Mud Bowl was dedicated to Low who died earlier that year (see
